Human Right Day 2025
Human Right(HR) Day observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone entitled to as a human being – regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth,or other status.
The UDHR, together with the 2 covenants. The International Covenant for Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights – make up the International Bill of Rights.

The Human Right Council is an inter-governmental body. The body is within the United Nations system. It is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of HR around the globe. And for addressing situations of human rights violations and to make recommendations on them. It can discuss all thematic HR issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year. It meets at the UN Office in Geneva.
The Council made up of 47 United Nations(UN) Member States elected by the UN General Assembly. The Council created by the United Nations General Assembly on 15 March 2006 by resolution 60/251. Its first session took place from 19 to 30 June 2006.
The Council members elected for three years. They are elected by the majority of members of the General Assembly. The election is through direct and secret ballot. While members of the Council serve for a period of three years, they are not eligible for immediate re-election after serving two consecutive terms.
