The authorities asked  Galgotias University  to vacate the AI Impact Summit. It followed after a day  it showcased a Chinese-made robot as its own.

The Controversy

The controversy started after a video from the event went viral.In the video, a Delhi-based university representative introduced a robotic dog named “Orion.”

Soon after, social media users noticed something unusual. They said the robotic looked almost identical to the Go2 robot made by Unitree, which sells online for about ₹2–3 lakh.

Because of this similarity, many people accused the university of presenting imported technology as its own innovation. The criticism spread quickly across X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

However, the university responded with a public statement on X. It clarified that it had never claimed to have built the robotic dog.

Instead, it said the robot was purchased from the Chinese company Unitree.
The university also explained that it used the robot only as a teaching tool.
Students were using it to learn robotics, programming, and artificial intelligence.
