India Clinches Victory: Champions Trophy 2025 Comes Home

India clinched its third title of the ICC Champions Trophy. India beated New Zealand by four wickets in the summit clash of the competition. It was the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. The final was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
New Zealand, who won the toss and chose to bat first, put on 251-7 in 50 overs. India cross the finish line on 254-6 in 49 overs. India went through the entire tournament unbeaten after wins against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the group phase, and then Australia in the semifinal.

Rohit Sharma ODI career that began in 2007, Rohit has now played 273 matches, scoring 11,168 runs, with his high score of 264 coming against Sri Lanka in 2014.
The win was India’s 23rd in 24 games across the last three men’s ICC events stretching back to 2023 – the only loss coming against Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final.
India’s maiden win came in 2002, when it shared the honours with Sri Lanka. India had last clinched the Champions Trophy title in 2013.
Australia is the only other team besides India to have won the tournament more than once. The Aussies won the title in 2006 and 2009. It is the only team to have won the championship in consecutive editions of the tournament. New Zealand won the Champions Trophy (then the ICC Knockout Trophy) in 2000
