The 2023 Booker Prize, £50,000 prize, is won by Irish author Paul Lynch for his novel Prophet Song, set in an imagined Ireland that is descending into a tyranny; a dystopian Ireland reflecting the reality of war-torn countries.

The award was constituted in 1969 and every year, the prize is given best novel written in English and published in the UK.Until 2014, only novels written by Commonwealth, Irish, and South African citizens were eligible to receive the prize. In 2014, the ambit was widened and any English-language novel was open for consideration for the award.
