SHAHEED MADAN LAL DHINGRA: A REVOLUTIONARY

A Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra was an freedom fighter, political activist and a revolutionary from Punjab. While studying in England, he assassinated Sir William Hutt Curzon Wyllie. Wyllie was a British official. This act was hailed as one of the first acts of revolution. Dhingra was caught, tried, and sentenced to death on 17 August 1909. Dhingra came into contact with noted Indian independence & political activists Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Shyamji Krishna Varma.
They were impressed by Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra perseverance and intense patriotism which turned his focus to the freedom struggle. Savarkar believed in revolution by any means. And supposedly gave Dhingra arms training, apart from membership in a secretive society, the Abhinav Bharat Mandal. He was also a member of India House. The base for Indian student political activity in England run by Shyamji Krishna Varma.
INDIA HOUSE
During the Indian freedom struggle, India House in London served as a crucial hub for Indian nationalists and revolutionaries. Established in 1905 by Shyamji Krishna Varma, it functioned as a hostel for Indian students. And a center for promoting Indian nationalism and revolutionary ideas against British rule.
ABHINAV BHARAT MANDAL
Abhinav Bharat (Young India) was a secret society founded by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar in 1904. Initially known as “Mitra Mela”, it was established in Nasik and later expanded with branches across India and in London. The organization aimed for Indian independence through revolutionary means and was involved in assassinations of British officials.
Shyamji Krishna Varma
Shyamji Krishna Varma was an Indian revolutionary fighter, an Indian patriot, a lawyer and a journalist. He founded the Indian Home Rule Society, India House, and The Indian Sociologist in London.
