Arunachal Pradesh has the best sex ratio in India
With 1,084 females born per thousand males, Arunachal Pradesh recorded the best sex ratio in the country, followed by Nagaland at 965 females and Mizoram at 964. The three northeastern states top the 2018 report on “Vital statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System (CRS)”. Manipur, on the other hand, featured at the bottom of the list.
The sex ratio (number of females per thousand males) is an important indicator to map the gender gap of a population. lowest SRB was reported by Manipur with the birth of 757 females per thousand males.
Manipur was followed by Lakshadweep saw 839 female births and Daman and Diu saw 877 female births. Punjab was the next name in the list with the birth of 896 females per thousand males.
Assam is one of the 13 states in the country, among 20, to have crossed 90 per cent registration of births. Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura fall among the 10 states that recorded 50-80 per cent registration of births within 21 days.
